Become an Instructor, Badge Reviewer, Charlie Coach
As Charlie Life & Leadership Academy grows, we are eager to grow our faculty base with Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) passionate about developing young leaders through the medium of e-learning. We will also be engaging badge reviewers and coaches to support higher level badging acknowledgement as well as coaches to support students interested in a more personalized approach to growing their leadership competencies and skills.
Charlie Life & Leadership Academy is focused on providing core and industry specific competency-based leadership programs for college and high school students seeking to prepare themselves to for school, work, and life. In addition to completing Charlie Life & Leadership programs, including Level 1, 2, & 3 badges, many students desire a more one-on-one coaching relationship in order to work through various programs, practice and reflect on key life and leadership skills—giving them a more in-depth learning experience. This can be a short-term or longer-term relationship depending upon the needs and goals of the students. The Charlie Life & Leadership Coach plays a vital role in a student’s success, and as such, make up a special team of individuals within our organization. We have authored curriculum, academic research articles, and books; have served as researchers, professors, and consultants to our countries highest offices and Nobel Laurates; and most notably, have brought together practitioners and scientists who share a common purpose in bringing these skills and competencies to students around the world. DR. BRUCE H. JACKSON, MBA/MPA, Ph.D., Executive Director C. SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT CHARLIE ACADEMY
Dr. Barden is a national expert in the science of coping, resilience, and performance. Dr. Barden is the recipient of two national science awards.
Dr. Barden is a licensed attorney, licensed psychologist, research scientist, speaker, writer, expert witness, and national science-litigation-legislation consultant. He has published in the leading journals and texts in child psychology, social psychology, clinical psychology, psychiatry, surgery, pediatrics, and law.
As a graduate of St. Olaf College with a focus in biochemistry/physiology, an MS in nutrition/physiology, and a Ph.D. in kinesiology/physiology/nutrition from the University of Minnesota, Dr. Halvorsen has worked with students, athletes, and professionals as an exercise physiologist. Among his work with college, Olympic, and professional athletes, Dr. Halvorsen has been a health promotion consultant for Best Buy, Medtronic, 3M, Target, General Mills, Valspar, Carlson Companies, Cargill, HealthPartners, BCBS-MN, Fairview, and others.
CFRE, FUND DEVELOPMENT AND STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS
Marcie is a veteran of the nonprofit industry with nearly three decades of experience as a professional fundraiser and grant writer for national and international organizations. Her experiences in growing newly incorporated nonprofits expanded to working with small businesses and business planning.
Brendan has been working in the video production industry since 2006 with credits in large budget feature films as well as commercial work. Promotional pieces have become a staple of his career. While having strong creative influences, Brendan has also spent time studying design, art, audio, video, and project management. Brendan has found his niche in managing and directing productions from small budget shoots, to large budget commercials with national distribution. Brendan is known for shooting for the stars, and making stuff happen!
BOARD SECRETARY AND SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT
Dr. Joels has a Doctorate in Aerospace and Education. His professional experience includes positions with NASA, the National Air and Space Museum, the White House Young Astronaut Program, Challenger Center for Space Science Education, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. He has also worked extensively with multi-cultural educational programs and programs for disadvantaged youth.

Steven serves as Director of Consulting Services at Redpoint Financial Group, a full-service accounting, and finance firm offering assurance, tax, and business consulting services to numerous clients (from small start-ups to large corporations) across various industry sectors in North America.
EXECUTIVE LEARNING CONSULTANT, CHARLIE ACADEMY
Melissa has a B.A in Applied Psychology with a Human Relations minor and an MA in Intercultural Communications. She has 20 years of experience in training design and development, serving as a subject matter expert in soft skills development, strategic performance management planning, and communications and organizational design.
INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNER, CHARLIE ACADEMY
Arin earned her B.A in Anthropology with a concentration in ESL. She has an MA in Curriculum and Instruction and is a licensed teacher in Elementary Education and Linguistically Diverse Education. Arin is a career educator dedicated to creating learning platforms where all students thrive.
INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNER, CHARLIE ACADEMY
Rachel Ingram is a freelance e-learning developer in Brooklyn, NY. She has worked with a wide range of organizations including global corporations and, in the past three years, has focused on non-profit organizations and education companies. Over her six years in e-learning, she has created digital learning in numerous forms including multimedia presentations, game-based interactions, animated videos, screencasts, and software simulations.
